Biographical Note

Dr. Burt Slemmons (1922-2017), retired from UNR in 1989 after 38 years (1951-1989) of teaching and conducting research in earthquake geology and engineering. During that time he established both the State Seismological Research Laboratory and the Center for Neotectonic Studies. He completed a B.S. in Economic Geology in 1947; and received a Ph.D. in Geology in 1953, from the University of California Berkeley.
