University Theatre Records
Scope and Contents
University Theatre Records consists of programs, audition calls, and promotional material for plays presented on campus and in Reno under the auspices of the Department of Speech and Theatre. Included are performances by the Campus Players, the Class of 1920, the Genesius Players, Theatre Eight, and the University Theatre. "Department of Theatre" and "Theatre Department" appear on some items. ASUN also co-sponsored some of the plays.

Conditions Governing Access
Collection is open for research. Materials must be used on-site; advance notice suggested. Access to parts of this collection may be restricted under provisions of state or federal law.
Administrative History
Speech and theatre courses were offered by the English Department until 1956. The Department of Speech and Drama appeared in the 1956/1957 course catalog as part of the College of Arts and Science. The name was changed to the Department of Speech and Theatre in the 1974/1975 general catalog. Theatre productions were produced by the Campus Players, as well as some smaller groups such as Theatre Eight and Genesius Plays.
