Administrative History

In July 1982, University President Joe Crowley directed the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Richard O. Davies, to do a comprehensive program review. The results of that review appeared in "An Agenda for Excellence, Academic Planning in a Time of Limited Resources: the Final Report of the Comprehensive Program Review" in 1983. The report made recommendations for improving effectiveness and efficient institutional management, establishing institutional priorities, allocating resources, providing institutional planning, and assuring accountability to the Board of Regents, governmental officials, and the people of Nevada. It identified centers of excellence, programs with potential for achieving distinction of a national level; recommended new academic programs; identified programs that should be canceled or placed on inactive status; and addressed the administrative structure of the university.
