Administrative History

The Dial Club was founded in 1962 by Walter Voskuil. It was a loosely organized group of university affiliated faculty who met once a month during the academic year. The program was a talk from a colleague on a topic not necessarily related to the speaker's area of instruction or research. The club flourished during the 1960s and 1970s, and for several years the programs were hand printed by Kenneth J. Carpenter, founder of the Black Rock Press. Attendance declined in the 1990s, and the last meeting was held on May 21, 1997.
