Scope and Contents

The Cap and Scroll Records consists of a small binder containing typed copies of the constitution, by-laws, initiation procedures of the organization, and member signatures. Also included are a Cap and Scroll pin, with the Greek letters AOH, Alpha Theta Eta, and the book Dreams by Olive Schreiner.

Administrative History

Cap and Scroll, the University of Nevada, Reno's Women's Honor Society, began in 1922. The purpose of the quasi-secret organization is to recognize a student's college spirit as demonstrated through activities and scholarship. Membership is limited to senior women with high-grade point averages who are leaders in campus activities. The 1924 Artemisia listed the organization as "Athenades".

Transferred by Lorraine Solaegui in 1997. An additional accrual was received in 2010.

For preservation reasons, the binder was removed and placed into a separate envelope.
