Biographical / Historical

Roslyn M. Frank is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Iowa. She specializes in Basque Studies, Cognitive Linguistics, European ethnography, ethnomathematics, ethnoastronomy and archaeo-astronomy, informational technologies and orality, ecocriticism, Spanish civilization and culture and Spanish women writers. Frank received her Ph.D. in 1972 from the University of Iowa with the dissertation La visión narrativa de Mario Vargas Llosa en Los jefes, La ciudad y los perros y Los cachorros. During a lecture of El Quijote, she became interested in Basque Culture. She learned the Basque language in the Basque Country and hosted Basque natives in her house in the United States.
