James Albert Yerington Papers

Abstract James Albert Yerington was the son of Henry Marvin Yerington; managing director of the Nevada State Exhibit, Midwinter Fair, 1895; and owner of the Brunswick Mining Company. Includes a diary, 1908; incoming correspondence from friends and relatives, including his father; map of the Brunswick Mill site; tax statement; certificate of appointment as a delegate to the American Mining Congress, 1907; and a receipt. The diary deals mainly with business matters.

James D. Yoakum Photograph Collection

Overview James "Jim" D. Yoakum, the first wildlife biologist hired by the Bureau of Land Management (1957-1986), devoted his life to the study of wildlife and range management issues in the West, especially the pronghorn antelope. He worked with The Wildlife Society, other national and international organizations concerned with wildlife biology and management, and created educational programs using his extensive photo library. Collection contains the photographs taken by Yoakum during his career.

Abstract The Young Women's Christian Association of the University of Nevada was organized March 25, 1898, and became a charter member of the National YWCA in 1906. The name, Campus Y, was often used to distinguish it from the Reno-Sparks YWCA, formed in 1921.
