The Lorenzo D. Creel Papers have been divided into two major groups and into series within the groups. The first group contains Creel family items and includes correspondence, financial records, business papers, memorabilia, photographs, and books which belonged to Creel family members with the majority of the material originating from Lorenzo and his son Cecil. Overview
The Agricultural Experiment Station began with the 1887 Hatch Act to develop agricultural research and education. In 1918, Samuel B. Doten, Station director, hired George Hardman and put him in charge of the Station farm and on the faculty. Hardman worked on an irrigation investigation of the Humboldt River, 1919-1921, and on soil experiments both in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. Overview
The Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station began with the Hatch Act in 1887, which provided an annual appropriation of $15,000 to each state to establish a nation-wide system of experiment stations to conduct agricultural research. A Board of Control of each Station was to decide the problems to be investigated under this grant. Grace Palmer Rasmussen Papers

Abstract
Grace Palmer graduated from the Nevada State Normal School in 1893; she married Andrew Rasmussen in 1903. One handwritten letter of recommendation, June 16, 1894, by Stephen A. Jones, University of Nevada president; one typed letter, May 19, 1916, by Samuel B. Doten responding to a request for a teaching recommendation requested by Rasmussen from his deceased mother, a former teacher.

Overview
Samuel Bradford Doten (1875-1955) was born in Gold Hill, Nevada to Alfred and Mary Stoddard Doten. Doten taught at the University of Nevada, Reno from 1900 until his retirement in 1946 and served as the director of the Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station. He was an avid fisherman and kept a fishing journal from 1906-1951. Collection contains his journal and a small amount of additional materials, including correspondence and photographs, found in the journals.
