The Board is responsible for the governance of the institutions comprising the Nevada System of Higher Education. Overview The replica Fremont Cannon was donated by the Kennecott Copper Corporation to the University of Nevada on November 26, 1970, in Las Vegas during the homecoming football game between the UNLV Rebels and the UNR Wolf Pack. The seven foot long cannon became the largest and most expensive trophy in college football and a revolving trophy going to the victor of the annual football game between the Reno and Las Vegas campuses. Overview David Walker Hayes attended the University of Nevada, 1896-1900. He was a resident of Lincoln Hall Dormitory, and participated in athletics and various student societies. The collection contains university memorabilia: room and board receipts, athletic and theatrical programs, and photographs. Included is copy of letter to Hayes from Robert M. Brambila, class of 1897, while Brambila was in the Philippine Islands, June 8, 1899.
