Journalist Dan De Quille (pen name for William Wright) came to the west coast of the United States from Iowa and Ohio in 1859. Between the years 1859-1862, he and his brother, Hank, moved frequently around the gold mines and cities of northern California, the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, and western Nevada Territory. Abstract
Miriam Evans Richardson was born in West Liberty, Iowa in 1892 to Mell Wright and Frank Algernon Evans. Her mother, Mell, was the daughter of William Wright, better known as Dan De Quille: most well-known for his book The Big Bonanza (1876) about the famous Comstock Lode in Nevada. The collection contains photographs, clippings, and books about the Richardson family.
