Abstract Francis Griffith Newlands (1848-1917) was a businessman and served as a Nevada Representative from 1893-1902 and a Senator from 1902-1917. The collection contains many legal documents directly related to the acquisition of mills along the Carson River, including the Ogden Mill, Eureka Mill, and the Morgan Mill.y. Abstract

Surveys from 1862-1867 of areas of Storey County, Nevada, include portions of Six-Mile Canyon, Gold Canyon, Long Valley, Cedar Hill, Gold Hill, Virginia City, Flowery, and Geiger Grade. Individual surveys show such man-made features as mills, brewery sites, and mining claims. Each survey contains a verbal description of the parcel and a pen and ink scale drawing of the parcel and related geographic features.
