The Cortez Mines, Ltd. was a mine on the southwest slope of Mt. Tenabo on the border of Lander and Eureka Counties, Nevada. The collection contains inventories of supplies, 1899-1907, for goods used at the mine such as wood, soda, salt, fuel and explosives, and the amount of each used at the mine or mill.

Ludowig (Louis) Edmund Wedertz (1824-1881) operated a stage station at Sulpher Springs on the Carson-Aurora road from about 1862-1866 when he moved his family to Aurora for two years. By 1874 they were living in Sulpher Springs again where Clarence R. and Frank Lewis were born.
