Letter to the Guscetti Brothers

Abstract

The collection contains one letter written in 1911 by L. Guscetti to his brothers R. and W. Guscetti in Loyalton, California. Author discusses working on the Truckee River Power Canal for Stone and Webster, contractors hired by the Truckee General Electric Company to complete the project. Guscetti also mentions the fire that burned Stone and Webster's warehouse and office space to the ground.

Lewis Hahn Papers

Abstract

Lewis "Lew" Hahn was an early Wonder, Nevada miner who, after leaving the state, became the manager and owner of a number of New York City mercantile companies. This collection contains correspondence, dated 1906-1913, to and from Hahn during his Wonder, Nevada mining days as well as reminiscences of his time there. Also included is an advertising booklet for Syndicate-Alliance Trading Co., Inc. from the 1940s.

Henry C. J. Evans Family Collection Relating to Will James

Henry C. J. Evans was born in New Jersey around 1915. His cousin, for whom he was named, lived out west and knew Will James. Collection contains a caricature-like, vignette illustration purported to have been drawn by Will James around 1925 as well as a small amount of correspondence regarding it.

Ruth and Victor Jones Papers

Abstract

Elaine "Ruth" Murray (1895-1980) and Victor William "Casey" Jones owned a cabin at Lake Tahoe near James E. and Florence Church's cabin, the Tree House. The couple were friends of the Churches and communicated regularly. The collection contains letters from James Church to the Joneses as well as photographs documenting the relationship between the Jones and Church families.

Originally emigrants from Ireland, the Kelly family settled in Nevada around 1867. By the turn of the 20th century, family members had relocated to California and Montana.
