George Alexander Antipa, his wife Edwina, and two daughters, June and Susan, frequently took trips to the Sierra Nevadas from San Francisco, California. The collection contains digital surrogates of slides of the Antipa and Fulton family members at Squaw Valley following the 1960 Winter Olympic Games as well as imgaes from around Lake Tahoe, Sutro, and Virginia City, Nevada.

Hans Muessig Photograph Collection on Julius Asher

Abstract

Julius Asher (1847-1924) was a photographer who worked in Virginia City, Nevada and San Francisco and Sacramento, California in the 1860s-1890s. Hans Muessing collected these images that were digitized by Amy Kaminski. The collection includes scans of eight Julius Asher stereographs, including scans of two versos, as well as Muessig's collected information on Asher and these images.

The Baumann family, originally from Ohio, consisted of five siblings, three of whom (Jacob, Sophia (Welch), and Carline) settled in Nevada in the 1870s. Additionally, the collection includes correspondence to John Piper of the Piper's Opera House in Virginia City, Nevada regarding booking performers for the venue.
