Carol Darwin Nabors attended high school in Hollywood, California with Joanne (Cutten) de Longchamps. Joanne Cutten de Longchamps was born in Los Angeles in 1923 and attended schools in Los Angeles and Paris where she studied painting and music, both of which she pursued later in life. The collection contains scrapbooks that include copies of Joanne's poems, correspondence, articles, programs, greeting cards, and photographs of Joanne and her interests.

Oscar and Harriet Nelson Photograph Collection

Overview
Oscar Mathais Ferdinand Nelson (1901-1979) and Harriet Bennett Nelson were members of the Sierra Club. The couple participated in regular outings with the Sierra Club into the Sierra Nevada mountain range, as well as other California locations and documented their trips through photography. Collection contains 590 photographs, 415 negatives, and a travel diary documenting the Nelson's various outings with the Sierra Club from 1925-1934.

S. Martin "Marty" Shelton served in the United States Naval Reserve and traveled throughout Nevada. His interest in the state's history led him to document the historic sites and ghost towns he saw during his visits. The Park Wedding Chapel opened on May 15, 1956, as the first wedding chapel in Reno. Joseph Melcher, a local advertising executive, and his wife Venila, converted what was formerly a private home into a chapel. The collection includes photos, postcards, newspaper clippings, articles, business records, and correspondence from 1956 to 2016 relating to the Melcher's chapel and Reno's wedding chapel history.

Herman Familly Papers on Rancho San Rafael

Brothers Raphael and Norman Herman immigrated from Germany and eventually purchased a ranch in Reno, Nevada in 1935. The ranch, named Rancho San Rafael after Raphael, was eventually sold to Washoe County to be used as a regional park. The collection, dated 1943-1981, primarily documents the sale of the ranch to Washoe County and contains a deed, correspondence, photographs, and newspaper clippings related to the ranch.

David K. Rice worked for the Nevada Department of Wildlife for 30 years primarily as Chief Conservation Educator. He is also the author of a former weekly column for the Reno Gazette Journal on hunting and fishing. Collection contains material from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (and formerly the Nevada Fish and Game Commission) about the department's conservation work, particularly at Pyramid Lake. Also includes columns written by Rice for the RGJ.

Hugh A. Shamberger Papers

Hugh A. Shamberger (1990-1992) was an engineer for the State of Nevada from 1929 until his retirement from the Desert Research Institute in 1967. He wrote a series of book on mining history of Nevada. Collection contains research, notes, and photographs created and gathered by Hugh Shamberger for the publication of his book series called Historic Mining Camps of Nevada.
