Abstract

Laurel Ames is a long-time resident of South Lake Tahoe who has worked with various agencies dedicated to the use and conservation of Lake Tahoe including The League to Save Lake Tahoe, the California Water Quality Control Board, Sierra Club, and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency. The collection contains materials created and collected by Ames while working with organizations in the Lake Tahoe basin whose primary goal was to protect Lake Tahoe from overdevelopment and urbanization.

Antipa Family Slide Collection

George Alexander Antipa, his wife Edwina, and two daughters, June and Susan, frequently took trips to the Sierra Nevadas from San Francisco, California. The collection contains digital surrogates of slides of the Antipa and Fulton family members at Squaw Valley following the 1960 Winter Olympic Games as well as imgaes from around Lake Tahoe, Sutro, and Virginia City, Nevada.

Janet Martin Tranquada Collection on Camp Chonokis

Janet Martin Tranquada was a Camp Chonokis camper, counselor, and niece of camp manager Gladys Gertrude Gorman. Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company Records

Abstract

The Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company was organized in 1873 with Duane L. Bliss as president and general manger and H. M. Yerington, D. O. Mills and J. A. Rigby as stockholders. It was probably the largest and most extensive lumber operation serving the mines of the Comstock. Collection includes correspondence, company papers, land related documents, financial accounts, lumber statistics and maps from 1858-1946.
