American Women's Voluntary Services Records

Abstract

The Nevada state chapter of the American Women's Voluntary Services was organized September 1942 with the purpose of the America Women's Voluntary Service was to recruit and train women to do civil defense work, assist with rationing programs, help provide packages to servicemen, and run USOs. The collection includes minutes, 1952-1956; scrapbooks with pamphlets, newspaper clippings, programs, correspondence, and photos, 1942-1968; and a photo album, 1961-1966.

George Brunton Papers

Abstract

George D. Brunton (1924-2009), born in McGill, Nevada, was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 23, 1943 and discharged on February 6, 1946. The collection includes manuscript letters from Brunton written while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, to his family in McGill, Nevada; typescripts of those letters; photographs; and White Pine County school publications (1942-1996).

The Great Basin National Park Foundation Oral History Project begain in the mid-2000s as a way to preserve and document the cultural heritage of the Great Basin in over 60 interviews with individuals who were raised and worked in White Pine County, Nevada and Millard County, Utah.
