Overview Aroet Lucius Hale, born on May 18, 1828, was an extremely active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and an early emigrant to Utah Territory. Hale died on December 13, 1911 in Grantsville, Utah. Collection contains two journals by Aroet Lucius Hale transcribed by Kathlyn Cranney Mayes Stubblefield in 1990 describing the life of Hale and his emigration from Dover, New Hampshire to Grantsville, Utah.

The collection contains Gustafson's reminiscences and describe growing up in Minnesota, attending the University of Nevada, working as a range examiner for the U.S. Grazing Service in Nevada, homesteading and soil conservation in Alaska, and raising a family.

Assay books

Abstract Officially established in 1895 by the Nevada State Legislature, who made the President of the University responsible for having ore, mineral, soil, or water samples from Nevada, submitted by Nevada citizens, analyzed. In 1915 the lab was made part of the Public Service Division of the University. Collection contains records of over 8,800 assays performed by the lab. Each includes sample number, name of property owner or requestor of assay, and analysis of material.
