Abstract A native of Australia, Patrick Squires was a charter member of the University of Nevada's Desert Research Institute and a pioneer in the study of cloud-seeding. Born in 1914, Squires received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Melbourne in 1934 and a doctorate in 1959.
