Abstract Ronald M. James is an historian, folklorist, and former head of the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office (1983-2012). He authored or edited over a dozen books and numerous articles on Nevada's architectural heritage, history of Virginia City and its residents during the Comstock Lode, and in various areas of European and American folklore.
