Abstract Included are a cash journal for the Mexican Milling Company, 1916-1920; mill book, 1915-1920; and survey book of the Con Virginia, Ophir, Mexican, Union, and Sierra Nevada mines, .,The mill book records tonage of raw material, gold and silver extracted, and "tails;" surveys record excavation progress in the shafts. This collection also contains a report by Charles Liddell, "Study of the Ventilation Problems of the North End Mines of the Comstock," 1914.
Overview Part of the "North End" mines of the Comstock Lode, this mine was staked in 1859, was 3550 feet long, and was mined for substantial amounts of gold as well as silver. The majority of the records are regarding the annual reports made by the company. Also included are correspondence in the form of letterpress copy books, and cash books, which record accounts for the company.
Abstract Included are deeds, agreements, financial statements, reports, correspondence, payrolls, articles of incorporation, and assay reports for 118 mines, mills, shafts and pumping associations, primarily in Nevada but also in California, Utah, Arizona, and Wyoming.,Of special note is Symmes' statement regarding a conspiracy against him by stockholders of certain Comstock mines (1914).
