Donald Drake is a history enthusiast and researcher. The collection includes transcribed newspaper articles collected from various historical sources regarding, flumes, logging, fire, the Comstock, earthquakes, storms, and other historical events that have taken place in northern Nevada since the 1850s.
Collection contains one letter written in 1911 by L. Guscetti to his brothers R. and W. Guscetti in Loyalton, California. Author discusses working on the Truckee River Power Canal for Stone and Webster, contractors hired by the Truckee General Electric Company to complete the project. Guscetti also mentions the fire that burned Stone and Webster's warehouse and office space to the ground.
The Tonopah Belmont Mine fire took place in Tonopah, Nevada on February 23, 1911 and killed seventeen miners. The collection contains one letter, dated February 27, 1911, written to George Wingfield about the reaction to the Belmont Mine fire in the days following the disaster.
