Abstract Kappa Lambda was a local fraternity founded at the University of Nevada on October 1, 1921. In 1928, Kappa Lambda submitted a petition for charter to the national fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. The Nevada Epsilon Iota Chapter was established at the Reno, Nevada, campus in 1929. The Crescents, the women's auxiliary to the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, was organized by the Epsilon Iota Chapter in October 1966, but was disbanded due to insurance coverage concerns.
