Overview This collection reflects the donor's years of research and teaching in the field of anthropology of the Washo and Great Basin Indians and does not include any of his work on African cultures (1859-1992). Created by Warren L. D'Azevedo who was a graduate student of anthropology.
Abstract Robert Leland (1912-1986) was a Nevada lawyer who worked closely with Washoe and Paiute native americans. Material in the collection is exclusively concerned with issues of American Indians, mainly the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. Correspondence, notes, reports, legal documents, printed material, tribal records and maps relate to Pyramid Lake Paiute tribal concerns including water, economic development and Indian claims.
Overview These papers were created or gathered by George F. Wright in his role as attorney for the Washo Tribe before The Indian Claims Commission. Included in the collection are correspondence, reports, testimonies, maps and records of other relevant dockets before the commission.
