The Inyo Development Company was formed to evaporate, process, and ship the natural soda found in the brines at Owens Lake, Inyo County, California. Collection contains correspondence, financial statements, labor records, soda records, legal documents and maps from 1885-1916.
Pacific Coast Borax Company was a Nevada borax mining company incorporated in 1890; part of their business took place in Inyo County, California. Included is a contract between Edward John Reynolds and the Pacific Coast Borax Company to rent land in Inyo County with an option to buy, 1892; and two letters, one inquiring about the effect of fused borax, 1910; and sources for commercial purchase of borax, 1926.
