In this single item collection, Frances Shellenberger describes her Mormon parents' emigration from England to Utah, father's work in pioneer Utah, childhood in a Mormon family, move to Lund and Preston, Nevada in about 1898 with a Mormon colonizing group, marriage to Walter Shellenberger in 1903, married life in the mining town of Ruth and in Ely, ranching in the Snake Valley, raising ten children, and involvement in Mormon church activities. A brief genealogical chart is included.

The Overland Emigrant Trail is one of a complex series of trails that crossed most Midwestern states to eventually lead into Utah, California, Oregon, and Washington. Manuscript guidebook to markers placed across the 40-Mile Desert of northwestern Nevada between 1968-1970. Included is the original report, two addenda, a trail map, diagram for construction of markers, and list of committee members and others who assisted in the project.

Walden writes his wife (not named) on April 19, 1850, from St. Joseph, Missouri, describing the wait for spring grasses to grow and telling her about their acquaintances who are also waiting to travel. The second letter, sent Sept. 7 to Dr. A.G. Taylor of Carroll County, Missouri, from Weaverville, California, advises the doctor not to make the journey and describes the hardships on the Humboldt River Trail in Nevada, trail deaths, and mining and living conditions in Weaverville....

Dallas Woodrow Wilson is the grandson of William Stanage Wilson who was a wheat farmer in Or., mined for gold in the Boise Basin of Idaho, and mined silver near Battle Mountain, Nevada. Included is a copy of the trail diary of William Stanage Wilson, biographical information from family and historical sources for periods before and after 1852, and the author's story of how he located family members and information for this unpublished manuscript (1997).
