Alfred Merritt Smith Papers
To the English-American voters of the state of Nevada
H.S. Symons relates the story of the murder of his brother, Humphrey Symons and the trials which initially found the accused murderer guilty but subsequently released him. Symons blames Republican politics for the travesty of justice and goes on to campaign for the free coinage of silver to aid the slumping mining industry. This essay was published October 25, 1880.
