The Allen and Bertrand families emigrated to Nevada in the 1860s, settling in the central part of the state near Austin, Cortez, and Carlin. The collection contains genealogical materials of the Allen and Bertrand families as well as extensive correspondence and photographs.

Weekly reports for the Alta and the Benton Consolidated Mining Company by Superintendent E.D. Boyle (father of the Nevada governor) include distance drilled, total length of drift, and number of men employed, 1880-1889.,Also included is an Alta stock certificate purchased by G. E. Arrowsmith, trustee, 1924 and four lists of officers (1881, 1887, 1892, 1918).
J. Cecil Alter Snow Survey Correspondence and Articles
J. Cecil Alter was a meteorologist with the U. S. Weather Bureau based out of Salt Lake City, Utah in the early 1900s. Collection contains three sets of correspondence to Alter from James E. Church, J. L. Ford, and H. L. Stoner in 1926 regarding his article on rate of snow melting, data regarding snow melt in the early summer, and copies of three articles on the rate of snow melt.
