Abstract

Dawn Y. Lappin (1940-2018) was a wild horse activist working in Nevada and the American West during the 1970s-2010s. The collection includes correspondence, reports, maps, audio-video, and other materials related to wild horse management, conservation, and activism. Also included are records from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and records from the Nevada Wild Horse Commission.

Abstract

Work on the Wild Horse and Burro Database began in 2008 when the Nevada state legislature began to phase out the Nevada Wild Horse Commission, a state agency, in 2010 due to budget cuts. The collection contains scanned reports, correspondence, and other materials covering the history of wild horse conservation and the activity of the Nevada Wild Horse Commission from the 1970s to the late 2000s.
