George Harris Autobiography
George Harris was a Nevada author, originally from Pennsylvania. The collection contains an autobiographical manuscript about Harris' life in Nevada, mining, and stories of people and events in Goldfield, Nevada.

Primarily, legal documents such as deeds and probate cases; and accounts of the earliest non-indigenous settlers in Nevada, specifically the Motts, Fettics, and Brockliss'. Effie Mona Mack (1888-1969) was an American historian, educator, and textbook co-author. The collection contains edited manuscript, photographs and maps for Mack's book on the history of Nevada to 1864 (1935) as well as her syllabus prepared for a high school history class on the history of Nevada (1945).

In addition the series documents the status of racial discrimination in the Reno-Sparks area through the varied surveys and reports and materials from the national NAACP organization (1951-1965).

Nevada, One of Fifty: Radio Shows
Nevada, one of fifty was a series of radio programs produced by the University of Nevada, Reno, as part of the U.S. Bicentennial celebration, which explored various aspects of the state: history, politics, immigrants, Native Americans, government, ghost towns, art, and some individuals. George Herman, professor of English at the University of Nevada, was the most frequent host but every show featured a different guest. The collection contains 40 cassettee recordings of the program.
