Thomas E. Buckman Papers

Abstract

Thomas E. Buckman (1895-1977) graduated from the University of Nevada in 1921, and was a charter member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He served as Lyon county extension agent, 1921-1922, and Washoe county extension agent, 1923-1925, before joining the University of Nevada extension division as associate professor in 1925. He retired in 1955 as assistant director. The collection includes information on Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity and the Nevada Extension Service.

Abstract

The Nevada Cooperative Extension Service is one of the three branches of agricultural education and was founded in Nevada as a result of the Smith-Lever Act of 1914, and is active in all counties in the state. Annual reports by the Cooperative Extension Service on agricultural and natural resources, home economics, youth, 4-H, and other community resource programs. Records contain statistical data, narrative reports of accomplishments, and personnel data.

First Nevada 4-H Reunion Records

Abstract

The first Nevada 4-H Reunion was held on October 4, 2003, at the Nevada State 4-H Camp at Lake Tahoe. Reno Gazette-Journal columnist Erin Breen was a speaker at "The Power of Youth: Nevada's 4-H Centennial Celebration" in January 2002. Nevada Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa was a speaker and panelist for the event. The collection consists of correspondence, a certificate from U. S. Senator Harry Reid, planning and marketing material, newspaper clippings, and press releases.
