Allison Bowers Papers
Primarily legal records concerning the Virginia City, Nevada estate of L. S. Bowers. Included are deeds to the Atchison Silver Mining Company; court documents concerning Eilley's suits with the Mexican Gold and Silver Mining Company and others, and a financial statement for the estate.
Carson and Colorado Railroad Records
The Carson and Colorado Railroad was incorporated in May 1880 to service the growing Mining Companies of the west Central Nevada and nearby California. Collection contains organizational papers, correspondence, land related documents, financial statements between 1880-1916. Bound volumes include accounts, waybills, freight and tonnage records and train registers.
Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company Records
The Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Company was organized in 1873 with Duane L. Bliss as president and general manger and H. M. Yerington, D. O. Mills and J. A. Rigby as stockholders. It was probably the largest and most extensive lumber operation serving the mines of the Comstock. Collection includes correspondence, company papers, land related documents, financial accounts, lumber statistics and maps from 1858-1946.
Crown Point Gold and Silver Mining Company Records
Crown Point Gold and Silver Mining Company was one of the richest mines of the Comsotck Lode. Collection contains records including Board of Directors' minutes, 1861-1874; by-laws; agreements; deeds; reports of mining operations, 1887-1894; and letters, 1875-1877.
El Dorado Wood and Flume Company Records
J. B. Gallagher Deeds and Promissory Notes
J. B. Gallagher was a rancher in Mason Valley, Esmeralda County, Nevada; a Nevada state Assemblyman, 1873-1874; and Nevada state Senator, 1879-1886. The collection contains deeds and promissory notes for ditches purchased by Gallager and for money owed him. Parties involved included Thomas Keene, Allen Snider, Henry Mather, and T. M. TenEyck.
Alton E. Glass Papers
Alton E. Glass was an appraiser for the First National Bank of Nevada, 1924-1959, and an independent appraiser from 1959 until his death in 1966. The collection includes texts of speeches, appraisals, crop budgets, plans and charts, financial records of Glass' independent business, 1959-1965, and appraisals he conducted.
Overman Silver Mining Company Records
The Overman Silver Mining Company was a mine on the main Comstock Lode located in Gold Hill, Nevada. The collection includes bylaws; minutes, 1860-1865; correspondence, 1875-1882; daily and annual reports, 1880-1903; accounts, 1862; time book, 1874-1901; and deeds, 1861-1863 and 1890.
Pacific Wood, Lumber and Flume Company Records
The Pacific Wood, Lumber and Flume Company was incorporated in January 1875 for the purpose of cutting timber and manufacturing lumber as well as developing flumes in northern Nevada. The collection contains records of operation, including titles of real estate and water rights, correspondence between trustees, a time book, account ledgers, articles of incorporation, and agreements with other companies.
