Abstract The first Gambling Conference took place June 9-11, 1974 at the Sahara Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada. The conferences were held annually until 1976 and thereafter every two and then every three years. Consequently, the name of the conference changed from Annual Gambling Conference to National Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking, and then to International Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking. The Geneva Douglas papers are largely composed of materials related to her participation in Soroptimist International.
