George F. Smith Papers
George F. Smith (1885-?) was born in Nevada and served in the Reno City Council from 1919-1926. From 1926-1934, Smith served as Reno Postmaster. The collection largely contains correspondence on political or postal matters; also some legal documents, an aircraft squadron training manual, and printed congressional materials such as bills and hearings.
William M. Snare Papers
Wiliam M. Snare was a Reno, Nevada resident originally from Mount Sterling, Iowa. The collection includes correspondence, legal documents pertaining to Reno land purchases and leases, receipts and certificates for his membership in the Ancient Order of United Workmen, tax receipts, Washoe County tax lists (1913, 1914), constitution of the Anti-Horse Thief Society of Missouri (1875), Washoe County sample ballot (1892), and newspapers and fliers.
Southern Development Company of Nevada Records
The Southern Development Company of Nevada was incorporated on October 6, 1881. Among the stated purposes of the company were to buy and sell land, build and operate toll roads, locate and hold water rights and privileges in order to construct waterways and systems, and to acquire lands for timbering. Collection contains correspondence, company papers, land related documents, financial accounts, township plats and maps between 1880-1957.
