Abstract The records in this collection were primarily created by John L. Artz, Extension Range Specialist in the Renewable Natural Resources Division, 1966-1985, and Associate Director of the Cooperative Extension Service, 1982-1984. Artz was closely involved with the public land grazing issues as a consultant, educator, and mediator. Abstract

Les Sweeney (1935- ) worked for the Bureau of Land Management between 1959 and 1990. The Les Sweeney Papers are primary related to his work on wild horse and burro management in Nevada. Materials in this collection include correspondence, memos, reports, administrative documents, publications, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

Abstract

Work on the Wild Horse and Burro Database began in 2008 when the Nevada state legislature began to phase out the Nevada Wild Horse Commission, a state agency, in 2010 due to budget cuts. The collection contains scanned reports, correspondence, and other materials covering the history of wild horse conservation and the activity of the Nevada Wild Horse Commission from the 1970s to the late 2000s.
